Balance…

by John Womack on August 20, 2010

You need to have balance in your life.  When you do, everything  comes together.  Be present in both your work and personal life, but don’t let one over shadow the other.

I completely agree about finding balance. I have four young children, lots of commitments as well as a business, therefore using a calendar has helped me find balance. I block off when I “can’t” work my business, when I “won’t”, when I “can” and then when I “WILL” work my business. By making sure that I have time built into my schedule, it keeps me focused and keeps me from feeling out of balance. Thanks so much for sharing on this very important topic!

I totally relate to your video. I am one of those who work all the time in hope of one day will pay off.

Barb Gilchrist August 21, 2010 at 10:18 am

Great advise John! All too often we find ourselves doing all or nothing. We need to find time for both personal and business to grow!
Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy learning from you.

Hi John,

Thanks for sharing this video. I just retweeted it. I totally agree with you here about balancing your work and personal life. You do that by having a time schedule and just follow it. On my part, I do business when my daughter is sleeping so when she is awake, I am always there for her. Thanks again John.

Veronica Perea August 21, 2010 at 10:46 am

This is a great tip, John! It’s so easy to allow yourself to be consumed by one area of your life and let the other areas suffer. And that’s not good! So this is a great reminder!

Hi John,

Great blog and video. I recently came back from the US after a 2 week holiday and wrote a post about what you are talking about. It is so important to have that balance in your life. Taking a break help us to refocus and get new ideas.

Thanks for sharing and I am looking forward to more of your posts.

John,

This is SOOOOOOO important and I sometimes find myself so focused on my business that my family relationships suffer.

Thank you for the reminder on how important it is to plan and schedule your activities, including your FREE time, Family time, etc.

You are a LEADER! Thanks for sharing!

Hi John,
I completely agree;this friends and family nonsense is so old school it is ridiculous. My website is currently being re-done and the team is also going to amp up my social media presence. The dinosaurs in MLM keep doing the friends/family “thing” but that sure didn’t work for me,either.
Good luck to you and sure I’ll tweet this!
Best wishes,
Kim

John, Great Job.
One way to add balance is, what I call, leveraging your free time into income. It’s, kind of like, doing two things at once. Networking allows me to travel the world. It’s hard to use a computer riding a camel:) I always carry pass out cards. This may be considered old school but I have my mind wrapped around people not the net. I use every tool in the tool box. The computer is simply another tool. The best tool is between your ears! 4 months ago I was in Hyderabad India in a coffee shop located in, what is called, High Tech City. All the Google, Dell, Yahoo & Other employees hang out in this shop. 170,000 workers in a few square miles. I felt like a, networking, shark In a fish bowel:) But I only had 20 min. had to catch a plane. I gave the coffee shop owner my business card, made friends and now have people joining my business from India every day. I Simply passed out a 3 cent business card and making a new friend. The click of a mouse works. A hand shake works best!

I agree without balance you will definitely fall.

Eric Carrasco August 21, 2010 at 1:38 pm

I totally agree with you. Every day I try to find that balance of which you speak and I turn and I repeat it is very important in our lives to be happy with ourselves and with our friends and family. Thanks for this and all your advice

Kenny August 21, 2010 at 2:28 pm

I totally agree… This is the most important part of anything you do in life… If you don’t implement your time correctly whether it be work or family make it count…. Time in life can only be lost never gained. So use it wisely!!

Lori August 21, 2010 at 6:06 pm

This is so true. We must plan our work and work our plan to be successful. Thanks for the great reminder I will be sure to pass this one on. Remember the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Have a great day!

Hey John! Thanks a bunch for sharing this post with me. I absolutely agree that balance is truly required or else, you miss the whole point on working the business in the first place.

As always, you have brought exceptional content to the masses and I appreciate you and all you do! Later dude! :)

Great blog post my friend. Balance is key. I’m happy that you made this video because this is a topic that I have been dealing with myself. Balance is something we all need in order to really achieve true joy and happiness in life. Keep rocking out with videos bro!

Tyzanise Newman August 21, 2010 at 9:53 pm

John thanks for this posting. I found myself not sticking to my schedule this week, and spending more time on the computer because I felt like I was going to miss an opportunity. We all need to re-evaluate how we are balancing life from time to time…Thanks again!

Steve Bowers August 22, 2010 at 11:43 am

I completely agree John. With everything in life, you can go to extremes either way. Everything should have its time, and place, depending on what you want to get out of life. The trick is prioritizing what means the most to you, and what activites will get you to where you want to be. You’ve provided a great message to all of us. :-)

Great video!

Jonathan McGowan August 22, 2010 at 11:49 am

Hi John!

Thanks for inviting me to your Blog…it’s so nice meeting you here. :)

Just like an out of balance tire on a rim, a vehicle wouldn’t be able to perform properly at speed…or could you imagine a tightrope walker w/o balance? SPLAT!!

Have a highly inspired day…your tribal friend Steven Suchar

John,

You speak from a place of wisdom. It’s so easy for us to be out of balance. Everything in life is about balance and equilibrium. Sometimes it’s those simple truths that are shared that mean the most!

Thanks for the reminder, my friend!

Brian Early August 22, 2010 at 11:20 pm

Great stuff John! I will definitely follow your advice in the future. We should all look to follow successful people. You are one of those. I look forward to future posts. Keep up the great value you provide!

Steve Irving August 23, 2010 at 1:00 am

Right On, John. I was just thinking about this just the other day, and with a friend’s business I was consulting. This guy NEVER made time for his family and had NOT been sleeping (hardly) ever since he started working for himself.

One of the best ways to keep your business from consuming you is setup clear boundaries for your personal and love life–and business time. Having that kind of discipline really energizes me whenever I sit down to work my business.

And my girlfriend also notices the difference when our time together is actual quality time instead of me thinking and talking and worrying about my business.

Right On, John..Right On!:-)

Lois McQuinn August 23, 2010 at 1:13 pm

Hey John,

Your video post was actually an answer to a prayer that I have been praying for you! Awesome!

You see I’ve been watching all you big – internet guru’s :-) to see what effect the fame and money would have on you.

I’ve been really disappointed in so many folks as I’ve seen the stress (yes, even good stress) really change them. Some of them were so kind and really great people to connect with now… they are becoming – hard – impatient – some even rude and crude, it’s really sad.

So, I’m really please to see this isn’t happening to you and you are staying balanced! Way to go!

I’m still praying for the others.

John, you are so right – balance is a real key – as well as paying it forward – nothing will make a person more miserable than a bank account full of cash and no place to spend it! If a person has no real vision for making the money in the first place, a life plan that has meaing, well misery will follow! They become very Scrooge like!

I read a really great book this week called “Adrenal Fatigue” by Dr. James Wilson and from the symptoms he describes most internet marketers are either suffering from it or are on the road to developing it!

I was really amazed on reading the book that the main vitamins and minerals used to fight high stress levels are the main ingredient in Juice Plus, neat coincidence eh? Considering the two weren’t connected at all!

Take care of yourself – and if you haven’t started on your Juice Plus yet for the stress levels – I can’t encourage you enough to get started on it asap – a new study was just released (if you saw my facebook page) that Juice Plus cuts the severity of colds and flus also if you want to order call me at home and I can put you down for $50.00 of free product.

Keeping you in my prayers,
All the best!!
Lois

Wealth without the good health to enjoy it is meaningless!

Great post John! It just confirmed to me that you are definitely one of the ones to listen to because balance in life has been important to me for a long time and I find it a little difficult to listen to those who don’t acknowledge the need for it.

Janet Moody August 24, 2010 at 7:43 am

Hi John, wise words …and very timely for me! All too easy to lose any sense of balance in your life and just end up work, work, working. The last two years have been too much of work and not enough family time …can’t get that time back so I’m definitely working on being more disciplined and feeling the benefits already! Great post!

Lakethia Montgomery August 24, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Absolutely loved the video and I couldn’t agree with you more!

Jeremy Reece August 27, 2010 at 2:17 pm

Thanks! I know myself and a lot of other folks that work at home have trouble with this.

Come to think of it, anyone who owns and runs a business has this issue. When does it end?

If you have a JOB, most of the time you put in your hours and then leave, relax, live life. (I know the work-a-holics don’t do this :) But as a business owner it is much harder to say I am done for the day.

If you don’t take a break, you will burn out and nobody wins!

Keep up the good work!

–Jeremy Reece

John,
I think you hit everyone in the heart with your video. Balance is everything. Happiness comes from living in the present and enjoying every moment. The moments should include your loved ones, not just countless hours slaving away with work. Keep sharing my friend. Your are a star in the making, touching souls one person at a time.
